    かわいかったり、愛嬌があったり、ちょっとこわかったり、インパクトがあったりと、今ではさまざまなゆるキャラたちが活躍しています。どのキャラクターたちもそれぞれに魅力があり、ゆるキャラ人気はおとろえることがありませんね＾＾

    今回ご紹介するゆるキャラ「とまチョップ」も、そのかわいい姿から北海道はもちろん全国的にも人気があるんですよ＾＾そんな人気のとまチョップをさっそくご紹介していきましょう♪
    とまチョップ

    「とまチョップ」は、中学生のアイデアをきっかけに誕生した北海道苫小牧市のマスコットキャラクターです。
    苫小牧市立緑陵中学校の１年生の総合的な学習の時間「模擬市長選マニフェストづくり」で出された、市のキャラクターをつくり、苫小牧市を活性化させるというアイデアが、岩倉市長の目にとまり実現され誕生しました。

    「とまチョップ」の名前の由来は、とまこまいの「とま」、ハクチョウの「チョ」、ハナショウブの「ョ」、ホッキ貝の「ッ」、ハスカップの「ップ」からきています。
    名前の由来白鳥をモチーフにハナショウブの尻尾をしていて、ハスカップの首飾り、ホッキ貝の帽子をかぶったかわいらしい姿をしています。

    ウトナイ湖の近くで生まれたのに泳ぐことができません。だけど、苫小牧で盛んなスポーツであるスケートをすることができ、趣味もスケートなんだそうです＾＾特技はチョップ、合言葉もチョップ！

    好きな食べ物は、苫小牧新名物の一つである「ホッキライスバーガー」。
    ホッキライスバーガー「ホッキライスバーガー」とは、苫小牧産ホッキを使った美味しいライスバーガーのことです。「苫小牧産ホッキを使用すること」と「美味しいライスバーガーであること」というルールを守っていれば、「ホッキライスバーガー」と名乗れるので、ホッキを醤油バター味や味噌バター味にして挟んだり、フライにしてはさんだり、他の魚介類も入れたり、野菜をはさんだりとさまざまなホッキライスバーガーが販売されています。

    公式ソング「みんなのとまチョップ」があったり、ストラップやスポーツタオル、ぬいぐるみなどさまざまなグッズも販売されている人気ぶり。ゆるキャラグランプリでは、２０１２年度に北海道内１位の１４位を、２０１３年度は北海道内２位の２０位を獲得していて、道内だけでなく全国的にも人気があります。

    現在は苫小牧市観光大使と苫小牧市副市鳥を務めていますが、将来の夢は苫小牧市長になることなんだそうです。いつかとまチョップの夢が叶うことがあればいいですね(笑)
